Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India has launched the Shine 100 DX to make a strong return to the competitive commuter bike market. This new model enters a space already led by top performers like the Hero Splendor Plus. While the Splendor Plus has long been a top choice for many riders, the Shine 100 DX brings fresh competition. Here's a simple comparison to help you decide which bike suits your needs better.
The Hero Splendor Plus sticks with its classic design, familiar to many buyers. To keep it fresh, Hero keeps updating the bike’s colors and decals. The bike is slim and carries a chrome 3D logo with a Splendor+ badge. It comes in five paint choices: Sports Red Black, Black Red Purple, Force Silver, Black Heavy Grey, and Blue Black.
On the other hand, the Honda Shine 100 DX features a large headlight with chrome detailing set in a plastic casing. Its bold fuel tank blends well with the single-piece seat, giving the bike a strong look. Buyers can pick from four color options: Pearl Igneous Black, Imperial Red Metallic, Athletic Blue Metallic, and Geny Gray Metallic.
The Hero Splendor Plus uses a basic analog meter. But if you’re looking for more features, the Splendor Plus XTEC version includes Bluetooth, SMS alerts, a mileage display, and more with its digital display.
Meanwhile, the Shine 100 DX is fitted with a fully digital LCD screen that shows useful info like real-time fuel economy, distance to empty, and even a clock.
Both bikes are equipped with telescopic front suspension and 5-step adjustable dual shock absorbers at the rear. They also share similar braking setups with drum brakes at the front and back. Tubeless tires come standard on both models. The key difference? The Shine runs on 17-inch wheels, while the Splendor uses slightly larger 18-inch ones.
The Hero Splendor Plus is built on a tubular double cradle frame and runs on a 97.2 cc single-cylinder air-cooled engine. It delivers 7.9 horsepower at 8,000 rpm and 8.05 Nm of torque at 6,000 rpm. A 4-speed gearbox and a wet multi-plate clutch handle the power delivery.
Honda’s Shine 100 DX is built using a diamond frame and comes with a 98.98 cc single-cylinder engine. It produces 7 hp at 7,500 rpm and 8.04 Nm of torque at 5,000 rpm. The bike also uses a 4-speed gearbox and offers both kick and self-start options.
The Hero Splendor Plus is priced from ₹83,251 (ex-showroom). As for the Honda Shine 100 DX, the company has not yet announced its price in India.
